OpenJournalism (OpJ) contributes in engineering more and better evidence-based stories that are supported by open data and from which readers (or re-users) can directly refer, verify and re-mix original sources. We focus on the “following public money” concept and the identification of contractors because it is a fundamental issue for both journalists and citizens while open data exist.

The second crucial aspect is provenance and verifiability of a data source. Creating direct links to parts of the data source that have been used to form your narrative will foster transparency, re-usability and trust.

OpJ will enable advanced search in public procurement, 1-click provenance to original data sources (Data LiveURLs) and Data tags for story enrichment, semantic SEO and social media integration.
